In Today's fastest life internet is everywhere. If you see everybody is using internet in mobile phone also. Small person or big person all have internet access from all over the world. So in this case web application can be used from every where or i would say any corner of the world. It is most use full to small medium entrepreneur, because in this fast life they also believe to grow their business fast and would travel to meet up their client, or say meet up different people for their business growth in that case they will not just seat in office. They have to travel the whole world, and for that web application software is blessings to small medium entrepreneur. And in today's time many corporate houses use web application because they value their time and knows that by this they can be in touch with their office from all over the world.

A web application is an application delivered to users from a web server like the Internet. Some businesses run web applications on an intranet, as well. Web applications are becoming more popular due to the widespread use of the web browser as a client.

Some applications are better suited and more likely to become successful as web applications. Web applications designed specifically for search engine optimization, have become increasingly popular. It is easy to understand why web applications that relate to the Internet would prosper, while business applications may have less appeal in a web environment. 

A desktop application is a self-contained program that performs a defined set of tasks under the user control. Desktop applications run from a local drive and do not require a network or connectivity to operate or function properly, though if attached to a network desktop applications might use the resources of the network.

Pros and Cons to Desktop and Web Applications:

  1. No installation and updation comes in web application as some times if better version comes in web application or some more tools and features has been developed at that time updation comes but at developer part at that point for some time application may be down.
  2. User can access the application from anywhere with the internet.
  3. If the application is been on hosting space then data is stored on hosting space or if the path for the data is given to the local server at user place or any part of the world then it is stored remotely into the local server.
  4. It can be run cross-platform compatibility means if you are switching one operating system to another then also you anyone can use the application. For E.g if a person is using windows operating system and after some time switch to mac operating system then also he/she can use the application via internet browser.
  5. It is better suitable for low-end computers and require little disk space as all the data is been stored in Hosting space or cloud or if you are using server.
  6. Client computer is better protected from viruses as the application is been sandboxed inside a browser.
  • Cons for users

  1. Desktop applications have better user experience because it is stored in local hard disk.
  2. For Web Application its require internet access.
  3. The remote server could be compromised leaking private information in the web world
  • Advantages for developers

  1. They get easier to monitor every user actions, get full statistics and feedback's.
  2. Developer can choose to completely control the server-side code making it impossible to pirate's.
  3. Developer get easier to add collaboration possibilities as data is stored on the server.
  4. Developer get easier to make a mobile version if you use HTML and JavaScript.
  5. Developer get easier to integrate the Web Application with web services.
  • Disadvantages for developers

  1. As it isn't a native application so developer has a lot of restrictions and limitations.
  2. Developer has less tools and frameworks for development, but in today's technology some things as become possible.

Conclusion :

Web applications have a lot of advantages, for example, they don't require installation and updating which saves a lot of administration work for large companies. They're also good for users who have more than one computer, as all their data and preferred software is accessible on multiple devices.

It also becomes more important that web applications are cross-platform and work on different OS.
